Lawrence "Larry" Harold Polchow was born in Mt Pleasant, Iowa and moved to Council Bluffs in 1963. He went to Thomas Jefferson high school, then went on to school to become a truck driver. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed fishing. He was the best fishing partner to a lot of people. Rain or shine he was always up for a fishing trip. Larry loved a good cookout with his family and watching the sunset by the lake with his wife. When Larry could no longer fish he became an avid birdwatcher, turning their backyard into a haven for many birds and hungry critters.
Larry Was baptized and confirmed through Redeemer Lutheran Church. He served the McClelland Fire department for more than 10 years when his health forced him to quit he remained active in the community and with the fire department in other ways.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Pridgen; parents, Harold and Elizabeth Polchow; daughter, Kara Johansen (Aaron); grandkids, Emma, Jaren and Braydon Johansen; stepdaughter, Diane Frazier (Michael Koenig); sister: Marie Gascoigne (Joe); brothers, Glen Polchow (Candee), Brad Polchow (Margaret Maruska); nephews, Jesse and Jason Polchow, Adam Polchow, Cody Gascoigne; and many other relatives and friends.
There was never a dull moment with Larry. Every adventure turned into a story that won't be forgotten. Larry's mischievous behavior will be missed by all, none more so than his wife and family.
