Leroy E. "Cork" Oamek

LeRoy E. ?Cork? Oamek, age 84 of Crescent, Iowa passed away October 30, 2012. He was born in Crescent on March 31, 1928 to the late Wallace & Alice (Johnson) Oamek. Cork graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Rainbow Post #2. He retired a foreman with the Chicago and Northwestern Rail Road in 1990. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, LeRoy Oamek; sisters, Mary Katherine Heney and Joyce Porter; son-in-law, Jon Pakenham. Cork is survived by his wife, Barbara Oamek to whom he married January 31, 1953; daughters and sons-in-law, Christie & James Johnsen, Kathie & Raymond Davis; son and daughter-in-law, George & Sharon Oamek; grandchildren, Katy Pakenham Board and husband Eric, Caroline Pakenham, Matthew Johnsen and wife Katie, Jessica Johnsen and Paige Oamek, great grandchildren, Lucas Board, Tarynn Gabrielle Muff and Brodie Johnsen and a host of other family and friends. Visitation is Friday 6-8PM at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is Saturday 1PM at the funeral home. A reception will follow in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. The family will direct memorials to projects in Crescent.
