Lona Kay Schamel

Lona "Kay" Schamel, age 82, passed away peacefully March 16, 2026. She was born October 18, 1943 to Richard and Minnie (McCoy) Kraft in Lake City, IA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by spouse, Rex Schamel; sisters, Doris (Jack) Johnson and Karen (Buzz) Ruby; brothers, Richard (Karene) Kraft, Butch Kraft and infant sister, Marilyn Kraft; grandson, Jamie Schnider.

Kay is survived by her children, Scott (Yulia) Schamel and Dana (Jeff) Schnider; grandchildren, Taylor, Alex, Brittany; great grandson, Ayden; brothers and sisters, Kenny Kraft, Margie Kast, Mark (Janis) Kraft, Linda "Susie" Reynolds, Kevin (Bess) Kraft; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Community Room on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The family will direct memorials.
