Louis "Sonny" Toelle

Louis "Sonny" Toelle passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2023. He was born on April 18, 1946 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He continued to live in the Crescent and Council Bluffs areas until knee surgery. At that time, he came to reside with his sister, Sherry Toelle, in Atlantic, Iowa. His health continued to deteriorate. In the fall of 2022, he was placed in out-of-home care through the Veteran's program in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Sonny was a graduate of Holy Family Elementary School and Creighton Prep High School. He planned to attend Iowa State University in the Veterinary Program, but a riding accident with his horse impeded that plan. Sonny later attended Iowa Western College, earning an Associate of Arts degree. During his career, he worked at the U.S. Post Office.

Sonny loved animals, especially horses and dogs. He served his country during the Vietnam conflict. While serving he worked in surgery at Landstul, Germany.

Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Henry and Katherine (Coyle); a stillborn sister, Kathleen (Yvonne); and an older sister, LouAnn Drake.

He is survived by his younger sister, Sherry; numerous nieces; and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, July 14, 2023.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, July 14, 2023. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
