Luther Henson, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025. He was born November 13, 1935, to Albert and Alta (Lawhorn) Henson.
Luther grew up on the Lake of the Ozarks, where he discovered his lifelong love for fishing and boating. He proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a Russian language specialist before dedicating much of his life to the restaurant industry - building, opening, and running several businesses. Later, he and his wife, Madonna, owned and operated Iowa Feed and Grain, in Honey Creek, IA for 25 years, working side by side.
Luther had a deep appreciation for the simple things in life: a good garden, a quiet boat ride, and time spent with family. He was known for his strong work ethic, easygoing nature, and the love he poured into all he did.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Nathan and Kelly Henson; and sisters, Joyce Allen and Mary Petsel.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Madonna Henson; daughter, Sherry Henson; grandchildren, Randi (Eric) Dofner, Andrea (Trevor) Raes, and Ryan Henson; great-grandchildren, Eric Jr., Hunter, Brody, and Lulu; sister, Betty (James) Melvin; a dear family friend, Shannon Barnes; and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home.
