Lynette Schmitt

Lynette Christine Schmitt, age 65, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on November 3, 2025. She was born on October 3, 1960, in Council Bluffs and lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends.

Lynette's life was centered on family. She was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones and cherished every gathering, big or small. Known for her caring heart, she made everyone feel welcomed and loved.

She worked as a manager for many years before dedicating her time to caring for her family full-time, a role she treasured most. In her free time, Lynette enjoyed bowling, shopping, and visiting the casino. She loved sharing stories, celebrating milestones, and supporting her children and grandchildren in all their endeavors.

Lynette's greatest joy came from being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love and devotion will continue to live on through the family she was so proud of.

Lynette was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Sandbothe and Verna Deal; siblings, Sandra Tuttle, Earl Tuttle, and Lori John; and brother-in-law, David Yohnke.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, David W. Schmitt, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and partnership. Together they built a beautiful life centered around family. Lynette was endlessly proud of their 50 years together and the family they created.

She is also survived by her five children, David K. Schmitt (Annette), Heith Schmitt, Bridgett Junior (Jason), Jerrica Acciai (John), and Christian Schmitt. Lynette was a proud and loving grandmother to Alexis, Scarlett, Valori, Preston, Liam, Freya, and Remy; siblings, Linda (Ken) Thompson, Peggy Yohnke, Leonard Sandbothe, and Christie Walsh; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, November 06, 2025.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, November 7, 2025. The family will direct memorials.
