Marilyn Mae (Fritz) Childs

Marilyn Mae (Fritz) Childs, age 87, formerly of Council Bluffs, passed away January 8, 2016 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was born September 16, 1928 in Council Bluffs to the late Belden and Mary Clark. She was one of six children. Marilyn spent her career as an Executive Administrative Assistant and worked at Mercy Hospital, University of Nebraska Medical Center and Union Pacific to name a few. She had joined the Mormon Church in Council Bluffs before relocating to Michigan for three years, then back to Sioux City, Iowa where she lived the past five years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Robert M. Fritz, 1975 and later Gordon Childs, 1989; son, Jack R. Fritz; daughter, Kristy L. Fritz-Bogardus; brothers, Darrell, Jack, and Eddie Clark; and twin sister, Carolyn Rae Vanata. She is survived by her four children: Kerry D. Fritz, Gregory W. Fritz, Nancy Huseth and Becky Bunting; three step children, Gordon Childs, Jr., David Childs and Nancy Coleman; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Donna Stom, and her husband Nick; and nieces and nephews. Visitation with family will be Sunday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Hoy-Kilnoski Community Room. Private burial will be at a later date in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
