Marjorie Ann Nelson

Marjorie A. "Marge" Andersen Nelson, 98, died February 22, 2026, at Chapters Living in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She was born June 23, 1927, in Council Bluffs, IA to Fred and Grace Owen. Marge lived on a farm on Mud Hollow Road until graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1944. She was married to Thomas W. Andersen for 36 years and they were blessed with 3 children. After Tom died in 1983, she started working at Iowa Western Community College where she met Enos Nelson and they were married in 1994. They retired two years later and enjoyed traveling until his death in 2012. Marge was an active member in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 66 years and a member of many card clubs. She also volunteered at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital for a few years. After living 61 years in the house that Tom had built for them, she moved to an apartment at Rison Son Christian Village in 2013 where she enjoyed many friends.

Marge is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Tom Andersen and Enos Nelson, daughter, Susan Bamford; brother, Tom Owen, and sister, Darlene Pribyl.

Survivors include her children and spouses: Cynthia & Dan Merriam and Scott & Laurie Andersen, both of Council Bluffs, IA, 2 sisters, Lois Knudsen and Sharry (Chuck) Thompson. Granddaughter, Sarah (Justin) Steinmetz, grandsons, Andrew (Melissa) Merriam, Ethan (Heidi) Andersen and Austin Andersen; 6 great grandchildren, 1 Great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2026. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2026. Interment is in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
