Mark Bergsten, age 58, entered the kingdom of heaven on January 19, 2022. He was born July 20, 1963 to Marvin and Patricia (Tiarks) Bergsten in Omaha, Nebraska. He went to Montessori School, Madonna, Prairie Lane Elementary and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1984. He enjoyed working at Vodec from 1984 to 2019. He was an athlete at the Special Olympics spring games at Iowa Western Community College and received the honor of carrying the Torch to start the Special Olympics. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and had a passion for his church. Mark enjoyed traveling, cement trucks, semi-trucks, music and his tv shows. In addition to the Special Olympics, his other passions were church, friends, and family.
He was preceded in death by mother, Patricia Bergsten; sister-in-law, Jennifer Bergsten.
Mark is survived by father, Marvin Bergsten; siblings, Dyan (Kent) Larsen and Ben (Piera) Bergsten; nieces and nephew, Abby (Jacob) Barents, Lauren McLain, Lexy Larsen, Ally Bergsten, Megan McLain, Olivia Larsen, Matt McLain, Avary Bergsten, Lexie McLain; a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, January 21, 2022.
Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
Interment will be held at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Council Bluffs, IA.
The family will direct memorials to the Special Olympics and First Baptist Church
