Mary Lou Wiley, age 79, passed away peacefully at Bryan Medical Center on November 9, 2025.
Mary Lou Wiley was born January 7, 1946 to Evert and Ester Shum in Huron, South Dakota. Mary spent most of her life in Lincoln, Nebraska where she built a loving home with her husband, Wayne Wiley.
Mary was known for her radiant laughter, her unwavering devotion to family, and her deep faith in Jesus Christ. Her sense of humor reflected a joyful heart, and her compassion was evident in the way she consistently served and supported those around her.
She found great joy in photographing the majestic scenery of Rocky Mountain National Park, a cherished destination for annual family vacations. Her green thumb was evident in her beautiful gardens, and she delighted in cooking meals that brought her family together.
Throughout her career, Mary served in various roles at State Farm Insurance and later worked at The Lexington Assisted Living Center, where her warmth and dedication continued to shine.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her father, Evert Shum; mother, Ester Shum; sister, Diane Kroll, and brother; James Shum.
Mary is survived by her husband, Wayne Wiley; her children, Darin Wiley (Zoila) and Wendi Kopiasz (Gerald); and her grandchildren, Lillian Rowell, Violet Rowell, and Sebastian Wiley.
A graveside burial will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Diagonal, Iowa, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
