Robert Dean Barr

Robert Dean Barr, age 90, passed away at Midlands Living Center on August 3, 2026.

He was born March 27, 1936, to the late Dwight and Edna (Smyth) Barr in Dexter, IA. Robert graduated from Dexter High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from house of Mufflers and Brakes. Robert enjoyed square dancing and was an active volunteer at the Union Pacific Railroad Museum.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Barr; brother, Daryl Barr; sisters, Darlene O'Brien and Meriam Jurgensen.

Robert is survived by his children, Doug Barr (Kim), David Barr (Julie), Geie Barr, and Bobbi Barr; brother, Darwin Barr; grandchildren, Andy, Jason, Zandra, Blair, Brett, and Baubie; numerous great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

It was his wish to be cremated, but there will be a celebration of his life at a later date.
