Roy Thomas Barnes

Roy Thomas Barnes passed at his home of 33 years in Hastings, IA at the age of 62. He was born on June 9, 1963 in Omaha, Nebraska to Guy and Janet Barnes. He was a quiet hard-working man who gained practical life experience while assisting and traveling with his dad for business.

He had three daughters: Stephanie, Lisa, and Jammie. Jammie later blessed him with his most adored "built-in" best friends, also known as his four grandchildren. His greatest joy came from the bond he built with not only his grandchildren, but also his closest nieces and nephews. He was known for playfully interacting with and teasing all familial children in his presence.

In his spare time, he enjoyed life through simple pleasures like problem solving automobile issues with his grandson and nephew, seeing the faces of his youngest grandchildren light up when he made his weekly visit, and providing a helping hand to friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Janet, father Guy, daughter Stephanie, three brothers Jim, Bob, and Mike, and nephew Brian Wise.

He is survived by siblings Bev (Terry) Wise and Guy Jr. (Tammy) Barnes. He is also survived by his daughters: Lisa Watkins and Jammie Snyder, grandchildren: Jacob Snyder (Madison Parman), AubreOnna Snyder, EmberLynn Snyder, Deklyn Snyder, and great-grandchild: Camryn Snyder. He truly left behind so many nieces, nephews, and loved ones he had a very special connection to.

Please join in his Celebration of Life on Friday April 24, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home located at 1221 N 16th St., Council Bluffs, IA 51501. Food and fellowship with family in the reception hall, immediately following the service.

Final resting place to be at the foot of Brian Wise. Grave site service and burial to be determined and announced at a later date.
