Sharon Morrissey

Sharon M. Morrissey, age 78, of Council Bluffs, passed away on August 25, 2026.

She was born on September 1, 1947, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Leo Morrissey and Dorth (Sternad) Morrissey. Sharon graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in 1965.

After graduating high school, she worked at Mutual of Omaha and the Telephone Company. Later in life she worked for the Glenwood Public School until she had to retire due to health issues. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and outdoors.

She is survived by her son Brian Schulenberg and her beloved daughter-in-law Christine Rethmeier, son Ryan Schulenberg and his wife Rumilda Schulenberg all of Council Bluffs. Grandchildren Briana Avalos Garcia, Tatum Schulenberg Cullen Wake, Cannon Schulenberg-Rethmeier, Cameron Wake, Magali Martinez, and Sarai Schulenberg; Great Grand children Esmeralda Avalos Garcia, Mateo Avalos Garcia, and Miguel Avalos Garcia; siblings Leo Morrissey, Dianne Zuroske; Roberta Kroupa, and Collen Dvorak-Leffingwell; Aunt Geraldine Morrissey and cousin and best friend Patricia Wulff; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Monday, August 31, 2026 from 5:00 - 7:00pm with Rosary at 6:30pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Council Bluffs on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 10:00am.

The family will direct memorials in honor of Sharon.
