Shelia Joyce Jones

Shelia Joyce Jones was born January 12, 1950 in Omaha, Nebraska to Jacqualyn Elizabeth Luckey and Ronald Frank Lumpkin, Sr.

She departed this life August 8th, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska with family and friends by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents Jacqualyn and Ronald Sr.; her infant son Ronald T, Jones, Jr., who was stillborn; sisters: Saundra White and Jacqualyn Jones; brothers: Ronald Lumpkin Jr., David Lumpkin, Daryl Lumpkin and Kenneth Lumpkin.

Her childhood was spent in north Omaha with her loving parents, siblings and aunties; Evelyn and Joyce Luckey; known as “The Luckey Sisters” which included her mother Jacqualyn.

In her teenage years she became the “family babysitter” because she loved babies and children so much. As an adult she attended Larose Beauty Academy in north Omaha but ended up working for the City of Omaha until she was transferred to Parks and Recreation and this is where her professional career began in child care. After retirement, she volunteered for the Foster Grandparent Program.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her three sons: Ronald T. Jones, II (wife Audrey), Roemoyn D. Jones and Raydale T. Jones; daughter Leslie N. Smith (husband Edward); brothers: Delbert Russell and Maurice Lumpkin; sister: Alyce Smith; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Shelia aka “Gannie”/“Grandma Shelia”, was a very loving person. She will be truly missed by all that knew her.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home & Crematory, repass will be at the Warehouse Event Venue (1414 W. Broadway, Council Bluffs, IA 51501) following the memorial service.
