Shirley A. Allen

Shirley A. Allen, age 85, passed away at her home on Monday, March 7 following a long battle with atrial fibrillation and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Shirley was born March 19, 1936 in Council Bluffs to the late John and Irene (Bell) Pitts. She attended schools in Council Bluffs and graduated from St. Frances High School in 1952. During her "growing up years", Shirley worked as a clerk at several law firms in Council Bluffs and eventually became employed by Rank's Department Store working there for many, many years. Shirley was an avid bowler and participated in several women's bowling leagues in Council Bluffs as well as mixed bowling leagues with her husband, Bob.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Bob; two daughters, Patty Lee Ladenson of Omaha and Deloris Ann Marr of Council Bluffs; 3 grandchildren, Julie Budwell, Roland B. Ladenson and Nathan A. Ladenson all of Omaha.

Visitation with the family will be at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, March 10. Funeral service will also be held at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home at 1:00pm on Friday, March 11. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs.
