Steven Dale Smith

Steven D. Smith, 62 years old, Council Bluffs, died March 9, 2017 in Omaha, Nebraska. Born in Biloxi, Mississippi he has lived most of his lifetime in Council Bluffs. He worked as a claims adjuster mostly for Mutual of Omaha.

Steven enjoyed the outdoors, visiting with friends and family and taking care of the dog and cats he's rescued over the years.

He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Etta Maye; his siblings, Kim (Bo) Setzekorn, Jeff (Jenny) Smith, Lynn (Matt) McCourt and Cheri (Walt) Stivers; nieces and nephews, Tim (Megan) Saettele, Kevin (Angela) Saettele, Dan (Amelia) Saettele, Kristen Saettele, Chris Setzekorn, Blaine Smith, Austin (Aly) Smith, Dakota Smith, Sam Stivers, Tom Stivers and Emily Stivers and Catherine McCourt.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoy–Kilnoski Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be the hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the Midlands Humane Society, 1020 Railroad, Suite A, Council Bluffs, Iowa 51503.
