Walter "Steve" Parker, age 75, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on March 6, 2026. He was born on February 2, 1951, in Council Bluffs to George S. Parker Sr. and Jeanette B. (Koger) Parker.
Steve graduated from Lewis Central High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1971 as a Vietnam Veteran. Following his military service, he returned home and built a life centered around family, work, and the community he loved. He served as a member of the Crescent Fire Department and worked for many years at Allied Communications.
Steve enjoyed the simple things in life and the hobbies that brought him peace and happiness. He loved spending time hunting and fishing and was a loyal fan of the San Francisco 49ers. In quieter moments, he enjoyed watching John Wayne films along with classic cowboy and war movies. One of his greatest joys was the companionship of his dogs-Izzy, Lady, Maybe, and Chocolate-who were always close to his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George S. Parker Sr. and Jeanette B. Parker; his brothers, George "Bud" Parker and Tom Parker; and his daughter-in-law, Leann Parker.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Marie; his daughter, Brandie (Shane) Major; and his son, Andrew Parker. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Chloey Ritzman, Breydon Major, and Shayden Major. He is further survived by his brother, David (Susan) Parker; sisters-in-law Janet Parker and Janice Potter Parker; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Steve will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to his family, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 17. The family will direct memorials.
